On Monday and Tuesday, June 18 and 19, in the bustling conference center of the Conrad New York, hundreds of Commercial Real Estate's biggest innovators gathered at Accelerate, an annual conference by technology company VTS.
"VTS and Better Spaces both share a similar goal - to give landlords the tools to better understand their tenants," says Better Spaces CFO Keith Angell. "Being a part of Accelerate was a no-brainer for us."
Better Spaces transformed the Conrad's existing common areas to show attendees what they could do for their own buildings, demonstrating how they could convert their vacant spaces into experiences that attract and retain tenants.
Participants networked in spaces designed to engage and encourage conversation. They gathered in a beach area complete with indoor surfboards, a certified instructor, and a full-scale projection of ocean waves. They had collaborative conversations in the WiFi-enabled lounge.
Better Spaces team members also gave one-on-one demonstrations of their app. Conference attendees could see how easy it was for tenants to reserve time in an amenities space. They also explored the owner portal side of the Better Spaces platform, which allows building owners to understand how tenants are using the amenities space.
"The amenities conversation is really about tenant retention," explains Bukky Awosogba, Product Developer for Better Spaces. "With our app's technology, owners can not only understand but also predict tenant needs. An agile amenity space can then adapt as tenant needs change."
Today, more employees than ever work remotely, from shared spaces, or from home. Better Spaces addresses the need for building owners to understand what attracts and retains tenants: a platform that helps landlords understand what makes their tenants click, and helps them deliver on those interests through engaging programming and amenities spaces.
Ms. Awosogba continues, "It was exciting for us to be a part of an event that so closely aligns with our own goals and values. More and more people are craving control over how and where they work."
She adds, "We're helping building owners ride this wave."
